This page is dedicated to the
picturesque and rich, but unfortunately forgotten
Department of Choco; with the
idea to diffuse and at the same time to instruct the people, about the
qualities and beauty of our striking land.
Why if in view of such natural resources
richness and abundance, Choco continues to be one of the poorest
Departments (States) of
Colombia?
Is it because Choco has not produced enough brilliant minds to generate
en pro of the Department and not looking to use the virtuous of
said “brilliantness” and take advantage of it for their own personal
interest?
Until when are we going to put up with
such abandonment from the Central Government? Do you think it is because
they still haven’t noticed that Choco exists?
Where is the promised road to the
Pacific, or the so expected Pan-American route? How is it possible that
although Choco is one of the zones with the highest rainfall in the
planet, still does NOT have a suitable aqueduct; even though,—if
constructed right— it could supply energy for all South America and
more…
And what about the plans for an
Inter-oceanic Canal in the
Darien
area, which would be yet more natural and with a higher capacity than the
existing one in the Isthmus and former
Colombian
Province of Panama (the Isthmus belonged to
Colombia until the ignorant and absurd hands of Jose Manuel
Marroquin Conservative Party’s Government and his gang)?
I do not condemn the fact that people
seek to prevail over their luck and end up emigrating from Choco; but why
are the children of said Chocoans now born outside, the ones that show
further interest in the future of the Department and not the locals?
Everyone is obligated to
help —locally and abroad—
Do you think that in order to succeed,
Chocoans need to follow the steps of
Panama and seek for Autonomy through Emancipation? Look how well
they’re doing socially and economically in the international field…
If
this was necessary (as it is!), the goal
is to establish an “Autonomous
System”, to further develop the
culture and community in our region.
Our local identity is based on a separate way of life and
traditions, as well as a different background and independent history from
the rest of what now is considered
Colombia.
We (the Chocoans) differ from the rest of the Colombian
Central Government in all aspects, be it gastronomy, culture, ways of
life, believes and even ethnicity, since approximately 91% of our
population is proudly of
African
Origins.
The
Department of Choco
and its citizens must continue living within and respecting the parameters
of the Colombian nation without ceasing to seek diplomatic ways to free
ourselves and finally claim our ancestors' land as an
Autonomous and Sovereign Territory.
The idea is to wok together in order to help our people succeed and
utilize the already rich resources of our beautiful homeland in a proper
and more accomplishing manner.
It was our parents who taught us an infinite love for that magnificent
corner of the earth. For each story and each anecdote transmitted upon us,
are our parents whom we owe gratitude for the gift of our own identities.
