In May 7, 1907 is executed in Quibdó, the First Afro-Descendant Lawyer of Latin America, becoming the same time the last man sentenced to the capital punishment in Colombia, discrimination victim accused of attacking the interests of the Chocoan white society. |
Slave that leads the greatest insurrection in the Department of Chocó (Barûle Regnum) with the help of the brothers: Antonio and Mateo Mina. He founded Tadó Palisade (Palenque) where he declares independence and is proclaimed Sovereign and King. |

Diego Luis Córdoba Born in June 21, 1907 in Neguá. Lawyer and great leader who fought for the creation of the Department of Chocó, the recognition of the right for black communities to have an education and one of the most important black community's human rights and equality fighters during the twentieth century in Chocó and Colombia. |

Armando Mosquera Aguilar Born in June 2, 1950 in Quibdó. Lawyer and political leader. He was General Sub-Secretary of the Colombian National Constituent Assembly of 1991 and later on, he was appointed Human Rights International Consultant in Central America, for the Organization of American States (OAS). |

Luis Alberto Moore Perea Son of the Chocoan political leader Carmen Dorila Perea Córdoba, born in September 1st. 1959 in Bogotá, DC. He is the first Afro-descendant to break the segregation and discrimination barrier in all the history of the Colombian National Police by reaching the rank of Brigadier general. |
Vanessa Alexandra Mendoza Bustos Born July 20, 1981 in Unguia. She is the first Afro-descendant to break the segregation and discrimination barrier in all the history of Colombia's Beauty Pageants. She was crowned Miss Colombia in November 12, 2001. |

Alexis Lozano Murillo Born in Quibdó in 1958, musician from birth. He participated as co-founder, director, trombonist and composer of Grupo Niche with Jairo Varela since 1979, but around 1986 he decided to create his own musical group and he named it Guayacán Orquesta. |
Mabel Mosquera Mena Born July 1, 1969 in Quibdó. She is a weightlifter who competed in the weight lifting category of the XIV Panamerican Games of Santo Domingo-2003, where she imposed herself in the 53 kg division with a total of 195 kg, winning the Gold Medal and establishing a new continental record. Later she would win another medal, this in the women's 53 kg weight class at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Lifting 197.5 kg in total, she won the Bronze Medal. |

Martínez Born in December 9, 1949 in Quibdó, founder, musician, composer, vocalist and songwriter of Grupo Niche. Together with Alexis Lozano Murillo and other friends, he founded the group around 1979 and he named it Grupo Niche. |
