The territory is occupied in its majority by equatorial jungles, the Jungle of Darien in the natural frontier with Panama and the division between Central and South America. The intentions to conclude the Pan-American Road from Alaska (USA), to Patagonia (Argentina) have been put to a stop in this region, due to the ecologist groups defending the fragile ecosystem of the Jungle of Darien. Its a fact that the transit between the State of Chocó and it's neighboring Panama can be done exclusively via airplane or boat.
